Language Provision

Language learning opportunities and multilingual education

Language Provision

English and Hebrew are taught. English is the second official language used to deliver the curriculum, with instruction starting in Early Education and continuing through Primary, Middle Years, and the Diploma Programme; English B (Higher Level) is offered in the Diploma Programme. Hebrew is taught as a third language from Early Education and is described as a language of cultural heritage, taught with a communicative and textual approach to language instruction. The Hebrew curriculum emphasizes communicative use of language, with students learning to exchange ideas in real communicative situations using meaningful topics and authentic interlocutors.

Bilingual Teaching

English is the second official language used to deliver the general curriculum. The school is in the process of implementing bilingual education, which began in Early Education and Primary levels. English is present from Early Education, helping students feel the language as their own from a very early age. In the Diploma Programme, students take English B (Higher Level), and courses such as Business Management and Environmental Systems and Societies are taught in English.

Immersion Programs

Content areas such as Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies are taught in English in Primary. In the Middle Years, students continue to explore the language with more technical vocabulary; subjects including Science, Social Studies, Design & Technology, and Media Arts are taught in English. Each year, more English resources are incorporated across the different areas. The program provides substantial English-language immersion across the curriculum.
