Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Founded in 1995 in Cajamarca and named after Sir Humphry Davy to reflect the region's mining heritage. It began with a British curriculum and joined the British Schools of Peru (BSP) and the Latin American Heads Conference (LAHC) in 1997. In 2000, the Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate was introduced, along with the IB Middle Years and Primary Years Programmes (which remained through 2013). Between 2004 and 2014, additional programs and certifications were added and Cambridge assessment-center status was established. In 2018, Fieldwork Education's IEYC, IPC, and IMYC were implemented. Today, after 27 years, the school emphasizes excellence in education and forming leaders for the world.

Community

The Davy College community includes a democratically elected Student Council (Consejo Estudiantil) that organizes social and cultural events, democratic training, and charity drives. It uses a four-House system—Africa, America, Asia, and Europe—to foster teamwork and healthy competition through inter-house activities. The community maintains yearbooks, Davy News, and an alumni network, and upholds school traditions such as the Davy Hymn. Student life includes arts, sports, and service activities.
