Play House Preschool was founded on December 8, 1992 by Ma. Elena Zaldarriaga, known as Tita Allen, in Banilad, Cebu City. It expanded to include Grade School and High School, giving rise to B.R.I.G.H.T. Academy. In 1995, Play House transferred to Ma. Luisa Road to address growing enrollment; today the campuses are on Gov. Cuenco Avenue in Banilad. BRIGHT stands for Balanced, Respectful, Intelligent, God-loving, Happy and Talented children, and DepEd recognized the elementary program on March 12, 2007 and the secondary program on December 27, 2007, with a Senior High School permit granted on October 29, 2015. The school now serves hundreds of students from around 25 countries and maintains a multi-national community on its campus.
Bright Academy hosts an international community, with about 1,500 students aged 12 to 16 and around 100 faculty and staff representing more than 40 nations. The campus promotes an international and multi-cultural ethos, with a world-renowned curriculum built on global and US standards. School activities include field trips to Cebu Ocean Park and Cebu Safari, plus family-focused events such as Family Day and the Keep Shining Concert. The community also engages in service initiatives such as the International Coastal Cleanup.
Bright Academy does not publish a standalone Parent-Teacher Association on its official pages. Parent involvement is coordinated through school channels, including the For Parents hub and direct communications with BRIGHT Academy and Play House staff. The school lists a variety of family-oriented events and activities that involve parents, such as Family Day, Keep Shining Concert, and the International Coastal Cleanup, along with field trips and career talks. Volunteer opportunities appear through these events and through general parent participation in campus life. Two main campus contacts are listed for BRIGHT Academy and Play House, providing admissions and inquiries channels.
BRIGHT Academy is a private, non-sectarian, co-educational school offering Grade School, Junior High School and Senior High School levels of education to multi-national students. It is part of a campus that also includes Play House Preschool and serves a multinational student body. The campus along Gov. Cuenco Avenue in Banilad has added Senior High School to its offerings.
