Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

MIIS supports Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) through a dedicated wellbeing and safeguarding framework under Life@MI. It features the Caring Class Communities Homeroom Program, the Student Life & Community Programs, and Wellness & Formation Programs to foster social-emotional development. Students have access to 1:1 consultation via Student Office Hours, and to Guidance Programs and Mentorships as part of ongoing personal growth. Safeguarding is a core element of the wellbeing framework, with high international safeguarding standards, staff training, risk assessments, and partnerships with relevant agencies. These initiatives collectively aim to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

MIIS has a Special Needs Policy addressing students with special needs. The policy states that MIIS has limited resources for students who have special needs and that the curriculum may not cater to the needs of these children. Admissions under this policy are determined on a case-by-case basis. The school reserves the right to discontinue enrollment if documentation is misrepresented or if the school cannot address the individual needs. The policy does not indicate a dedicated SEN unit or a specialist SEN service within the school.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

MIIS does not publish a dedicated EAL program. For foreign students, a level of English proficiency is required, and the school processes Student Special Permits (SSP) to enable study at MIIS. Foreign students must meet all entrance requirements, and a foreign student fee is charged. The Foreign Student Policy notes that MIIS supports adjustment to language and cultural perspectives (English and Filipino) as part of the onboarding process. There is no explicit description of a formal EAL program beyond these provisions.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is supported through the Student Wellness & Safeguarding framework in Life@MI. The page lists formation and wellness offerings including Caring Class Communities Homeroom Program, Wellness & Formation Programs, and other Student Life initiatives. Students can access 1:1 consultations through Student Office Hours and receive guidance via the Guidance Programs and Mentorships. The safeguarding and wellbeing framework emphasizes a safe campus atmosphere and proactive support for students. These elements are described under Life@MI.

Safeguarding

MIIS upholds the highest international standards for student safety on campus and has a strong Safeguarding Policy. The policy outlines procedures to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, alongside staff training, risk assessments, and partnerships with relevant agencies. The policy emphasizes open communication and encourages students to speak up if they have worries. The safeguarding commitment is detailed on the Child Safeguarding page as part of MIIS's protections and well-being programs.

A Parklinks campus in Pasig City is planned, targeting SY 2026–2027. MIIS follows a unique education framework based on Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, with a strong emphasis on leadership, social responsibility, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. The program spans Preschool through Senior High School, with a Senior High School that includes HUMSS and a General Academic Strand; the school holds dual accreditation from the Philippine Department of Education and the Council of International Schools. The language-support policy notes English and Filipino for international families, and English proficiency is required for foreign students. MIIS highlights small class sizes and a blend of hands-on, real-world learning, plus a range of clubs and competitions to develop students' intelligences and leadership.
