Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school follows a holistic approach to educating young people to become socially responsible and critically thinking citizens who appreciate global diversity. It aims to awaken students' curiosity and enable lifelong learning, with a focus on social, physical, emotional, and cultural development. IB programmes shape attitudes toward others, the environment, and learning by developing the Learner Profile, promoting openness, respect and collaboration. The learning environment is welcoming and supportive, encouraging personal expression and growth. Language exchanges and varied activities foster intercultural understanding and social responsibility.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school centers every student in the teaching and learning process, ensuring equal access to the IB curriculum and opportunities for academic rigor. The Access and Inclusion Policy follows IB guidelines to provide optimal support while maintaining confidentiality. Accommodations remove educational barriers, with access arrangements such as differentiated instruction, extended time, or targeted supports. If a certificate of special educational needs is identified, an Individual Education Plan is prepared within 30 days. Roles of the school psychologist, the IBDP Coordinator, teachers, and parents are defined to identify needs and implement support, with confidential documentation accessible to authorized staff and caregivers.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Working language is English, and the Diploma Programme is delivered in English. English A and English B are offered (with other Language A and B options such as Polish A, French B, German B, and Spanish B), supporting multilingualism. All MIS teachers are expected to teach in English and communicate in English for DP matters, with language policies emphasising access and inclusion in a multilingual IB environment. The school uses English for most written communications and assemblies, while other languages are taught as part of language classes. The Language Policy also notes that English is the global language for global citizenship and that students are encouraged to use English outside the classroom.

Mental Wellbeing

Monnet International School is committed to a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. The Well-being policy emphasises holistic development of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual well-being, inclusivity, and partnership with parents. Emotional support is available through access to a psychologist, form teachers, a career adviser and tutors, with mindfulness, stress management and time management techniques taught. The policy promotes a healthy balance between academics, extracurricular activities and personal time, and supports physical health and social connections. Well-being provisions apply across Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme to ensure continuity of care.

Safeguarding

A safe environment is maintained with anti-bullying policies and practices to promote kindness and respect. The Behaviour Policy defines rights to learn in a safe environment and outlines steps for handling misbehavior, referrals to the Head of School and the psychologist where appropriate. The Access and Inclusion Policy reinforces equal access to the IB curriculum and outlines roles for staff, the school psychologist and parents in safeguarding and supporting diverse learners. The safeguarding framework aligns with Polish Educational Law and IB guidelines, and confidential information about students is shared only with authorized staff. The Well-being Policy also highlights safeguarding through mental health support and a secure school environment.
