The school is one of 14 private institutions within Szkoły Sokrates. Its educational history begins in 1989 with the founding of the First Private Schools Group and the opening of Poland's first private, independent school—the Liceum Menadżerskie (Management High School). In 1990 additional private schools opened to serve children and youths from Bydgoszcz and nearby areas, fostering independence in thinking and action. In 2012 the Sokrates network opened the International Primary School, Gymnasium, and High School, and Cambridge International Education accreditation was pursued for the Cambridge program at all levels; in 2014 it earned accreditation from the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) for teaching Canadian citizens. In 2023 the Sokrates International High School was authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme, and the school is preparing for further international programs (IB and Cognia) and additional accreditations.
Students come from over 32 countries, creating a multicultural community. The school teaches English, German, Spanish and Polish, with instruction in Polish and English. Mindfulness and Wellbeing support are provided by a psychologist, mediator, and tutor, and tutoring is available to support student development. Multiculturalism is a core feature of the school, and international programs are emphasized, with accreditation from Cambridge International Education and ongoing plans for IB and Cognia accreditations. The school hosts and participates in community events and activities, including cultural celebrations and educational trips.
Sokrates International High School in Bydgoszcz, Poland, is part of Szkoły Sokrates, a network of private schools founded in 1989. The school educates students aged 14 to 18 with a dual track approach that blends the Polish core curriculum with international programs.
