The school teaches in French and uses Portuguese as the host-country language for in-class content; English is taught as a foreign language, with 1.5 hours per week in some levels. From seconde, students may access the European English section (anglais) and the Section européenne Anglais/Maths; there is also the Section internationale (BFI) French/Portuguese/English and the option of DNL courses in English (e.g., SES/Philosophie, SVT). From première, students can choose DNL SVT in English, and in terminale, a DNL in English is available with commands for language attestations. Certifications in multiple languages (e.g., Goethe for German, CAPLE for Portuguese, and Latin exams) are offered, and Latin is taught as part of the Latin European program.
French is the language of instruction. Portuguese is taught to all students as the host-country language, with a dedicated Portuguese welcome group for beginners (up to two years) to learn the basics before joining the rest of the class. English is taught as the first foreign language, and a number of subjects are taught in English (DNL) in the lycée, including SVT in English in the later years. A Bac Français International (BFI) offers trilingual or quadrilingual pathways with French, Portuguese and English, and possibly a fourth language.
Portuguese immersion is provided through a beginner group (Portugues accueil) for up to two years to help non-Portuguese speakers acquire basic Portuguese. Portuguese language and culture content is integrated for Lusophone students through the Langues et cultures du Portugal framework (Histoire & Géographie). The curriculum emphasizes strong Portuguese proficiency for all students, alongside the host-country culture. English is introduced early as a foreign language, with opportunities for English-language study in higher-level bilingual tracks.
Lycée Français Charles Lepiérre Lisbonne (LFCL) is a French international school in Lisbon, affiliated with the AEFE network and serving around 2,100 students from nursery to terminale. The campus spans seven buildings and houses facilities including Marmothèque, BCDI and CDI libraries, IT spaces, cafeterias, and health and counselling services. The curriculum follows the French national program: from Seconde to Terminale on the general track, with the Première–Terminale BFI track adding CDM in Portuguese and ACL in English; the Portuguese International Section (SiP) begins in Seconde and provides a pathway into BFI. In Seconde, Portuguese runs 4h and History-Geography totals 4h (2h in French and 2h in Portuguese); English foundations continue. From Première, the BFI track preserves the core timetable and adds CDM and ACL. The school offers two on-site gyms, a dance room, and extensive after-school activities; orchestral and choral ensembles, theatre, and arts options enrich arts education. Student leadership and service are fostered through CVL, CVC, ACH, JRI, and eco-délégués.
