Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Brilliant Indian International School supports social and emotional learning as part of its holistic, child-centred approach. The Principal's Desk describes values-in-action initiatives that cultivate empathy and social responsibility, alongside a focus on student-centred, experiential learning. The school also runs multilingual reading programmes to support language development and social interaction. A Student Counsellor is listed on the School Complaint Committee, reflecting an embedded welfare resource for students. Parental involvement is encouraged to reinforce a supportive learning environment.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

BIIS provides general in-school support for learning needs through its School Support Policy, which lists remedial sessions, individual attention, remedial worksheets, peer help, and ongoing communication with parents. The policy describes a range of in-class supports and a supportive infrastructure (libraries and ICT resources) aimed at inclusive learning. A Student Counsellor is included on the School Complaint Committee, indicating a welfare role for students beyond formal special education.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Language development at BIIS is supported through multilingual reading programmes as part of its curriculum. English is the language spoken on campus, with an emphasis on English-language instruction. The school presents itself as a CBSE Indian school with an international perspective, aligning language support with a diverse student body. A Student Counsellor exists to assist students, including language learners, within the welfare framework. There is no explicit public listing of a separate EAL department; language support appears to be integrated through multilingual programmes and general English-language policies.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is addressed as part of the school's holistic education, with emphasis on empathy, values, and social responsibility. The Principal's Desk notes a focus on student-centered, experiential learning and values-in-action initiatives that cultivate social conscience. The presence of a Student Counsellor on the School Complaint Committee provides a welfare resource for pupils. The school also highlights digital literacy and safety as components of student wellbeing. The Journey of BIIS describes development of the whole person, including mental and physical aspects, within a supportive environment.

Safeguarding

BIIS maintains safeguarding governance through its School Complaint Committee, which includes a named Student Counsellor. A dedicated complaint contact is provided at complaint@brilliantindianschool.com. The school is licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, State of Qatar, reinforcing regulatory safeguarding oversight. Parental involvement and a focus on safety and digital literacy are described as part of safeguarding efforts. These elements together form the school's safeguarding framework as publicly documented.
