Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Academic ECAs for English and Mathematics develop reading, writing, and mathematical reasoning. The program focuses on these academic ECAs to support learning missed during the past two academic years. STEM Week includes an Egg Drop Challenge, real-world maths applications, and 3D printing workshops. Historically, Ballet, Art, Cricket, and World History were offered before the Covid-19 pandemic, but the current emphasis is on Academic ECAs.

Arts and Creative

Public speaking and concerts provide opportunities to develop performance and communication skills. Creative writing is featured in events such as the UKS2 Inter-Newton Creative Writing Event. The Parent-Teacher Association organizes arts-related events that involve families. Previously, Ballet, Art, Cricket, and World History were offered as ECAs before Covid-19, but the current focus is on academic ECAs.

Cultural and Language

Philosophy for Children develops listening, speaking, reasoning, collaboration, and critical thinking through enquiry-based activities. NBA Barwa is part of an international Newton community with students from many nationalities. The school promotes worldly experiences through themed educational days and educational visits at home and abroad. The curriculum combines English National Curriculum with Arabic, Islamic studies, and Qatar History.

Social and Hobbies

Secondary School Council and Primary Student Council provide student leadership opportunities. There are events such as University Fair, Hands-on Science, STEM Week, Charity Week, Mental Health Day, and Creative Writing events. The Parent-Teacher Association is active and organizes events involving pupils, staff, parents, and the local community.

Community and Service

Students participate in the Duke of Edinburgh awards program. The Parent-Teacher Association organizes events to foster the well-being and engagement of the school community. Charity Week is among the events planned to support broader social causes.

Leadership and Professional
