Introduction

Al Bassam Schools in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, comprise three campuses serving Kindergarten through Grade 12. The group began in 2001 as a girls' school; the boys' campus opened in 2002, and the system now operates three sites (boys, girls, and international). The schools offer multiple curricula, including the American and British curricula and the Saudi national curriculum, with Cambridge elements in the national schools and IB programs. The PYP runs Pre-KG to Grade 5; the MYP covers ages about 11–16; the DP serves Grades 11–12. The language of instruction includes English and Arabic. English language learning uses Savvas Realize in the early years, and language acquisition includes French in the MYP. The campuses emphasise active, inquiry-based learning, digital empowerment, leadership and service, and programs such as Mawhiba and student parliament, plus range of clubs and community projects.
