German is the language of instruction in Grundschule; Deutschsprachiger Fachunterricht (DFU) is used in Grundschule. Deutsch als Fremdsprache (DaF) is offered with two annual assessments; DaF participation is mandatory unless re-screened and there is paid DaF instruction. English is taught from Kindergarten and appears as a subject in Grundschule. In Sekundarstufe, French is taught; The GIB track uses German B and English A (Higher Level) with Spanish ab initio, and some subjects are taught in German.
DISR uses German as the language of instruction in Kindergarten and Grundschule; English is taught starting in the Kindergarten and continues as a subject in Grundschule.
