Learning Oasis International School (LOIS) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was founded in 2008/2009. It is Cognia-accredited, previously AdvancED, and LOIS earned Cambridge qualifications in 2021. From Kindergarten through Grade 9, LOIS combines American standards (CCSS and NGSS) with the Cambridge IGCSE program. In 2023 LOIS became an IB World School, reflecting ongoing expansion of its international offerings. The school emphasizes a staff-led, professional development culture and a values-driven approach, aiming to foster self-esteem, leadership, and resilience in learners.
LOIS describes a diverse, collaborative community that includes learners, guardians, and staff working together within a values-driven environment. The mission and vision emphasize a safe, disciplined learning space and a partnership with families and the wider community. Activities span technology, athletics, arts, community service, and other extracurriculars that broaden learner experiences. Guardians are engaged through school events and partnerships that connect home and school.
Guardian engagement on the LOIS site is described through enrollment procedures and family events rather than a standalone PTA page. Guardians participate in the enrollment and re-enrollment steps via the Guardians'/ Learners' Handbook, indicating a formal role in school governance and administration. The school has hosted events that bring guardians, learners, and staff together, such as Just dream! LOIS achieves!, which highlighted teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship. LOIS leaders and staff have participated in external education events and summits, including the Cognia Conference (Feb 25, 2025) and a Panworld Education & Leadership Summit (Apr 9, 2025), illustrating ongoing collaboration with families and external partners in supporting student progress. The 2022 WAG ceremony and other celebrations show sustained guardian involvement in school traditions and community-building activities.
