Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

SYAS places a strong emphasis on the social and emotional well-being of its students. The school provides pastoral care and counseling services through a dedicated chaplain and school counselor. The chaplain oversees spiritual welfare by offering morning devotions, chapel worship, Bible study, and spiritual counseling. The school counselor assists students in overcoming emotional and social challenges that may affect their academic performance.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

While SYAS is not a specialist SEN institution, it supports students with special educational needs by offering tailored assistance to help them overcome challenges affecting their schoolwork. The school counselor plays a pivotal role in providing this support, working closely with students to address their individual needs.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

San Yu Adventist School (SYAS) offers an After-School English Empowerment Programme aimed at enhancing students' English language skills. This program provides engaging lessons and interactive activities designed to build confidence and improve communication abilities.

Mental Wellbeing

SYAS is committed to nurturing the mental, physical, and spiritual development of its students. The Pastoral Care Team oversees the spiritual welfare of students and staff, organizing activities such as a Week-of-Prayer twice a year and an annual Bible Camp featuring guest speakers and musical talents from the global Seventh-Day Adventist community. The Chaplain provides morning devotions, chapel worship, Bible study, and spiritual counseling. The School Counselor assists students in overcoming emotional and social challenges affecting their academic performance.

Safeguarding

SYAS prioritizes the safety and well-being of its students through comprehensive safeguarding measures. The school adheres to policies that ensure a safe learning environment, including guidelines on student conduct, grievance procedures, and protocols for addressing concerns related to student welfare.
