English is the main language of instruction and the vast majority of instruction and homework is conducted in English. Spanish is taught as part of the curriculum, beginning in Kindergarten. Catalan is included in the program as part of the International/American/Spanish/Catalan curriculum. Language learner classes are available in English, Spanish, and Catalan to provide guided practice.

Spanish instruction begins in Kindergarten, with language learner support in English, Spanish, and Catalan. A combined International/American/Spanish/Catalan program of study is offered.
Located just outside Barcelona in Esplugues de Llobregat, the American School of Barcelona is a non-profit international school serving ages 3 to 18. English is the instruction language. The Elementary program follows a progressive American standards-based curriculum; Middle School uses an American educational program; High School offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and the International Baccalaureate Career-related Program, with the IB Diploma Program also earning a US High School Diploma. Cambridge Exams are offered through ASB's English Programs. The campus has indoor and outdoor spaces, air-conditioned classrooms, abundant natural light, a library, five science laboratories, art rooms with a pottery kiln, music classrooms, and a Maker Lab with 3D printers and laser cutters, an auditorium seating 700. Sports fields, a gym, and a fitness center support athletics programs. The school emphasizes Service Learning, Model United Nations, performing and visual arts, and STEM across all grades. About 1,000 students are enrolled.
