Languages taught include Spanish and English as part of the bilingual programme; German is taught from Year 2 of Primary to Baccalaureate with Goethe-Institut examinations; Mandarin Chinese is taught from Year 3 of Primary with Confucius Institute YCT examinations. Language teaching relies on the IB Programmes for Language and Literature and Language Acquisition, together with the Spanish curriculum, and Cambridge English examinations are offered as part of the programme; the school is authorised as a Cambridge ESOL Exam Preparation Centre.
The school offers a bilingual Spanish-English programme from Preschool Education. Spanish-English bilingual education commences in Preschool Education; German is taught from the 2nd year of Primary Education; Mandarin Chinese has been included as a third language from the 3rd year of Primary Education to complete the language programme. Several subjects are taught at each educational stage in Spanish and English, and English language lessons at Secondary and Baccalaureate are organised in groups according to achievement.
Exchanges and Study Trips provide immersion experiences in language learning. Primary students are given the opportunity to visit the United Kingdom in the final year of this stage, and Secondary students participate in an exchange trip to Germany with a host family and a study trip to the United Kingdom.
Arenas International School Lanzarote is a private, bilingual Spanish-English international school offering the International Baccalaureate continuum for ages 3 to 18. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) runs through Preschool and Primary, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) through Secondary, and the Diploma Programme (DP) for the final years.
