Arenas International School Lanzarote was founded in 1995 as Colegio Arenas Internacional in Lanzarote. The Arenas International Schools Group (AIS Group) originated in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1940. In 2004, the secondary and baccalaureate education of Colegio Arenas was relocated to Arucas to create Colegio Arenas Atlántico. Arenas Academy opened in 2017 as a language academy. Since 2005, the AIS Group began implementing the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes; Arenas Lanzarote is an IB Continuum School offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme for ages 3 to 18.
The school hosts regular community events and cultural celebrations as shown in its Latest News. It celebrated the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse, on March 10, 2026. It marked Peace Day with 40 years of values education on February 2, 2026, and ran a Promoting solidarity initiative on the same date. It also hosted an International language and sports exchange in December 2025. Guided tours of the facilities are offered throughout the year.
Arenas International School Lanzarote is a private, bilingual Spanish-English international school offering the International Baccalaureate continuum for ages 3 to 18. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) runs through Preschool and Primary, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) through Secondary, and the Diploma Programme (DP) for the final years. Instruction is delivered in a bilingual approach, with English integrated across the curriculum and several subjects taught in English; in Primary, students begin studying French, German and Chinese.
