Bellver College was founded in 1950 in Palma under Don Pedro, a Roman Catholic priest, to provide high-quality English-language education in El Terreno next to Bellver Castle. In the 1960s the school moved to the Marivent area and began offering boarding for international students, including Mark Muirhead. In the 1970s Mark Muirhead and Stephanie Johnson laid the foundations of Bellver as a modern international institution; Stephanie, a teacher from Liverpool, joined as part of the leadership. In the 1980s Bellver became one of the first members of the National Association of British Schools in Spain and opened new premises opposite the previous site. The 1990s–2000s saw steady growth under the Muirheads; in 2011 Stephanie Muirhead continued as leader after Mark's death, and in 2013 Vincent Déperrois became Principal, introducing innovations including self-awareness programs. In 2025 ownership transferred to local entrepreneurs and Bellver College became Bellver College, with significant investments to modernise facilities and celebrate the 75th anniversary of its founding.
Bellver fosters a vibrant community through charity and service projects locally and internationally. A long-standing partnership with The Lions Club of Mallorca supports food drives, environmental projects, and aid for vulnerable families on the island, with Bellver students leading fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and hands-on actions. Annual initiatives include Christmas gift appeals, non-uniform charity days, eco-school clean-ups and sustainability campaigns, and international fundraising for disaster relief and development causes. Bellver also hosts events and celebrations such as school plays, concerts, and the Summer show, with parents invited to participate in activities from Sports Day to the end-of-year Fun In The Sun fair, fostering a shared community.
Bellver College provides a British education for pupils aged 3 to 18, following English National Curriculum from Early Years through A-Levels. English is language of instruction, with Spanish and Catalan integration to support bilingual readiness in Cambridge Primary. Early Years (3–5) uses play-based learning to develop literacy, numeracy and emotional development. Primary (5–11) adapts the Cambridge Primary framework to international context. Secondary (11–16) leads to IGCSE examinations, while Sixth Form (16–18) offers A-Levels with personalised university guidance for UK, Spanish and worldwide universities. The campus comprises buildings for Early Years, Primary and Secondary, Sixth Form study room, a science laboratory, an art studio and a concert hall. A partnership with Princesa de España Sports Centre provides a field, an athletics track and an Olympic-size pool. The school runs overseas trips and a sailing programme, and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2025 after adopting Bellver College identity and modernising facilities.
