Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school provides a holistic educational model across all stages, focusing on students' emotions, development, and competency skills. Cooperative Learning (AC) and multiple intelligences underpin the pedagogy, with emphasis on emotional development. The curriculum integrates STEAM and International Baccalaureate studies, including a Life Healthy and Sport program as part of the IB experience. The school is the first International Cooperative Learning Center (CIAC) in Spain and operates as an IB World School, reinforcing a culture of collaboration and intercultural understanding. Students are supported to enjoy school, reach their full potential, and acquire essential abilities for a world of constant change, with emphasis on creativity, curiosity, and collaboration.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The Integration Service Aula Enlace supports students who arrive with limited Spanish, aiming to integrate them socially and academically. The program uses a dedicated classroom and an integrated curriculum tailored to the needs of diverse learners. Intervention is identified by the teaching team and requested by the tutor or Orientation Department after initial assessment or admission testing. Foreign students joining the program typically require Spanish as the language of instruction or have curricular gaps due to late entry. The program lasts a maximum of nine months across one or two school years and employs teachers who are licensed to teach and to examine DELE exams; it has recognition from the Government of the Canary Islands for its inclusive objective.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Trilingual education in English, German, and Spanish begins in early childhood and continues through Bachillerato. English and German are vehicle languages for approximately half of the subjects, enabling immersive learning and strong language skills. The school runs immersion trips to Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Germany to deepen language skills and cultural understanding. Students prepare for external language qualifications including Cambridge ESOL (levels from A1 to C2), Goethe Institut certificates, and Oxford Test of English, with the school acting as an authorized exam center. In addition, DELE (Spanish) and other language certifications are available, and the IB Diploma Programme supports opportunities to study degrees abroad.

Mental Wellbeing

The Orientation Department provides Psychopedagogía, Logopedia and Educational Guidance to students and families, with the aim of personal growth, problem resolution, and social and academic integration. After an initial interview, specialists define the necessary recommendations within the educational process. The service focuses on preventive and supportive objectives, including support for students with high abilities, impulsivity, behavioral conduct, language difficulties, and other learning needs. Projects like graffo-psicología measure mental skills and can improve attention, concentration, self-control, motivation, and self-awareness. The department also offers university orientation to assist students in planning their higher education paths.

Safeguarding

The school maintains ISO 9001 quality certification since 2001 to ensure health and safety standards and to underpin continuous improvement, health, and safety across all school activities. It integrates Sustainable Development Goals as part of its CSR and has EcoEscuela recognition for environmental leadership. A Canal Ético provides a channel for ethical reporting and concerns. The school also runs family engagement programs (Escuelas de Familias) to support learning and safeguarding practices within the home, strengthening collaboration between the school and families.
