Facilities Overview

Meres International School is located in Meres, Asturias, in a natural environment characterised by large, light-filled spaces. The campus has more than 150,000 square metres of sports facilities and 9,000 square metres of classrooms and learning spaces, supporting students' academic and personal development. Classrooms are flexible and functional, designed for collaboration and personal growth, with spaces such as an Agora classroom for oral activities and an Art & Creativity area for hands-on projects. There are science laboratories in the secondary area (Physics & Chemistry; Biology & Geology) and a Primary laboratory for younger pupils, plus Early Childhood spaces designed for active learning. The environment aims to foster curiosity and independent learning through well-equipped spaces.

Sports Facilities

Sport spaces are a central focus, with extensive facilities and outdoor areas to promote healthy lifestyle habits from an early age. Meres Sport Campus provides a multisport environment for physical activity and skill development. For four weeks in the summer, a multisport Meres Sport Campus offers activities such as soccer, basketball and volleyball, alongside other games. Younger children (3–5 years) participate in age-appropriate activities like water games, cooking workshops and nature excursions, all within a large, nature-surrounded setting featuring modern, well-lit facilities. The program emphasises companionship, respect, teamwork and a desire to improve, powered by a team of experienced instructors.

Academic Facilities

Academic spaces include flexible classrooms designed for collaboration and personal development. The Agora classroom supports oral activities such as debates and presentations, while the Art & Creativity classroom enables hands-on learning. In the secondary section there are laboratories for Physics & Chemistry and for Biology & Geology, and a dedicated laboratory for younger Primary students. Early Childhood Education spaces are designed to enable active learning with connections to outdoor activity. These facilities support a teacher-led, inquiry-based approach across the school's programmes.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Throughout the school year, the school offers a wide range of activities based on music, languages and sports. Music includes an authorised Elementary School of Music with instruments such as piano, violin, viola, cello, transverse flute, clarinet and guitar, and ABRSM exams. Dance offerings include Ballet and Aerobics. Sports activities include basketball, judo, soccer, handball and skating, with an emphasis on values such as respect, responsibility, effort and companionship. Language learning continues beyond class with extracurricular language sessions. STEAM activities cover robotics, coding, graphic design and related disciplines to complement the curriculum.

Colegio Internacional Meres is a private Asturian centre in Meres, Asturias, delivering the IB continuum (PYP, MYP, DP) alongside elements of the Spanish national curriculum for learners from early childhood through secondary education.
