History

Founded in 1966, Meres International School is the only private Asturian centre accredited as an official international school by the IBO, and one of the first in Spain to achieve this status. The school serves students aged 3 to 18. Its educational model emphasizes critical thinking, self-discipline and teamwork to develop multidisciplinary, global and resilient people.

Community

Meres International School is located in Meres, Asturias, in a natural environment characterized by large, light-filled spaces. The campus includes more than 150,000 square meters of sports facilities and 9,000 square meters of classrooms and learning spaces, supporting student development. Students participate in external competitions and activities, including the Geography Olympiad where a Meres student placed 5th among 17 schools in Asturias, and the Physics Olympiad where a Meres student earned 3rd place with several Honourable Mentions. The school also hosts talks and experiences with professionals, such as Covadonga López-Fanjul on healthy eating, sport and rest, and highlights student achievements across social media.

Founded in 1966, Meres International School is the only private Asturian centre officially accredited as an IB World School and was among the first in Spain to achieve this status. The campus sits in a natural environment with over 150,000 square metres of sports facilities and 9,000 square metres of classrooms and learning spaces. Facilities include an Agora classroom for oral activities, an Art & Creativity area, science laboratories for Physics & Chemistry and Biology & Geology, plus Early Childhood spaces designed for active learning. A four-week Meres Sport Campus and a broad range of STEAM and arts activities enrich the year round curriculum. The school combines IB with the Spanish curriculum to provide a high-quality global education and uses a teacher-led, inquiry-based approach across programmes.
