Introduction

Colégio Suizo Madrid is a confessional independent, nonprofit school for ages 2 to 18, with a small, family-like atmosphere. The curriculum centers on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) alongside a bespoke programme designed to support holistic, individualized development. German is the language of instruction and main language, with two bilingual streams: German–Spanish and English–Spanish; English and French are taught and Cambridge/Alliance exams are offered. The school serves about 530–600 students and emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, responsibility and independence. Affiliated with SIS Swiss International Schools Group from the 2026/27 year, the school draws on a long Swiss heritage. It sits on nearly 25,000 m² of green space in Alcobendas, adjacent to La Moraleja, and shares facilities with the Swiss Club. - Prekindergarten and Kindergarten (standard day schedule): EUR 6,600 per year. These standard PKG/KG fees do not include meals.
- Primary (1st–6th year): EUR 9,300 per year. This fee includes lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for full-day attendance.
- Lower secondary (7th–8th year): EUR 9,460 per year. These fees include lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for full-day attendance.
- Upper secondary (9th–12th year): EUR 11,250 per year. These fees include lunch every weekday for full-day attendance. The fee for 12th year is prorated into the same 10 monthly instalments despite earlier end of formal classes.
- PKG/KG Compacto options (full-day modalities that include daily meals): Compacto 15 (09:00–15:15) EUR 9,200 per year; Compacto 17 (09:00–17:00) EUR 10,170 per year. These Compacto modalities include meals every weekday during the ten-month billing period.

Billing schedule and payment terms

- Tuition is billed on a ten-month basis (10 monthly instalments covering September through June). The school specifies that instalments are used for annual fee collection.
- All regular payments are collected by bank direct debit (domiciliación bancaria). Additional purchases made through the school's platform are charged to the account.
- Sibling discounts on tuition: 15% off for the third enrolled child, 50% off for the fourth child, and 60% off for the fifth and subsequent children. A separate set of route discounts applies to school-bus users (see transport).

Official exam fees for language and certification exams are charged separately and are typically modest (examples: EUR 70 for a Goethe B1 youth exam; EUR 45 for DSD II; EUR 140–240 for various Cambridge/DELF/Advanced examinations depending on level).

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school emphasizes personality development and social learning, in addition to providing solid knowledge and skills. Education is holistic and individualized, with teachers and parents contributing to students' development. The curriculum follows Swiss standards, with many teachers from Switzerland and regular quality checks by Swiss inspectors. Students acquire personal, social, and methodological competencies on their way to the Swiss Matura and the Spanish Bachiller. The school is a living space as well as a learning environment, with open communication and a culture of belonging and mutual trust within the school community. It also prepares students for access to universities in Switzerland, Spain, and other countries.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

A team of specialized professionals accompanies teachers to ensure holistic development of students and address the needs of students and their families. They identify learning difficulties and emotional or social difficulties through psycho-pedagogical assessments. They support teachers and families with educational guidelines and promote a positive school climate through various projects. They support students with learning difficulties and accompany them in managing conflicts and emotions. They coordinate prevention workshops on bullying and cyberbullying, drug use, eating disorders, sexual and emotional education, and career guidance, and provide counseling to families and workshops for parents.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

In the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, daily routines are conducted in German, with a short German language lesson. Spanish is introduced in first grade. English begins in fifth grade and French begins in ninth grade. Both languages are compulsory through to graduation. Official examinations are taken at the Cambridge Institute and the Alliance Française, and German language examinations are offered by the Goethe-Institut.

Mental Wellbeing

The school fosters a positive climate that supports students' social and emotional development. The KiVa program prevents bullying, trains staff and students, and helps students recognize and regulate emotions. Creative and experiential activities such as Object Theatre 'Flomi' and the kindergarten mediation ritual 'The Golden Box' teach empathy and constructive conflict resolution. The Peacemakers project in the primary school and peer mentoring promote responsibility, solidarity, and respectful teamwork. Parent education and family counseling are provided to support mental wellbeing across the school community.
