Founded in 1892 as the 'San Estanislao' School by D. José Olavarrieta y López and gained official recognition as a college in 1902. Ownership changed in the 1930s: Dr. Andrés Chiclana Molino acquired the college (1932–35) and D. Felipe Segovia Martínez acquired it in 1935, renaming it 'San Estanislao de Kostka'; during the Civil War it was renamed 'Numancia' after seizure by anarchists, and in 1939 it resumed the name 'San Estanislao de Kostka'. Between 1942 and 1946 the institution introduced its first internal regulations and its first study trips, festivals, and academic events. The College created a Medical Service and the Psychology Office in 1952, and the magazine Didascalia was launched in 1962. In 1980 SEK joined the institution, marking the start of international expansion; in 1989 the SEK International Institution was established with independent management from Madrid; in 1992 SEK opened its first school in England and acquired Eirís International School; in 2025 Ms. Mónica Segovia assumed the presidency of SEK and IES.
