Safeguarding and child protection is a whole-school task; all staff have an essential role in identifying welfare concerns and sharing information appropriately. The school designates a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to coordinate safeguarding and maintain records. Welfare concerns are recorded on a welfare concern form and kept centrally by the DSL, with clear reporting and escalation procedures when necessary. Examples of welfare concerns include physical marks or injuries, eating disorders, changes in behaviour, self-harm, and concerns about a parent/carer.
