Introduction

Guadalaviar School is a Catholic, coeducational institution in Valencia with roots dating to 1959. Serving ages 2 to 18, it educates Early Childhood through Bachillerato, using English, Valencian and Spanish to teach all subjects from age 3. In Kindergarten, classes are taught in Spanish, English and Valencian in roughly equal shares. From Primary, English is taught daily, and from 4th grade a second level of English is available. The school offers Cambridge English examinations and was the first in Valencia to host a Cambridge Young Learners Centre. It participates in the Eduspark reading program and German is offered in the upper years. Facilities include a year-round pool, three basketball courts, two gyms, science labs, ICT suites, a large library and an urban garden. Guadalaviar also runs a community program, Guadalaviar Solidario, and a broad array of clubs and language activities. Curriculum

From age 3, English, Valencian and Spanish are used in the classroom as vehicles to teach all subjects. In kindergarten, classes are taught in Spanish, English and Valencian in a proportion of 33% for each language. In Primary Education an English lesson is taught daily; from 4th grade there are two levels in English: normal and advanced. Environmental Awareness is taught in Valencian, and from 2011/2012 physical education is taught in English. In High School, German is offered as a foreign language. Guadalaviar is part of the Network of multilingual Teachers of the Valencian Community. Cambridge English examinations are available: Starters, Movers and Flyers in primary (4th–6th levels) and KET, PET and FIRST in secondary. An Eduspark reading program runs in kindergarten (in English and science); in primary it applies to Mathematics and English; in secondary to Valenciano, Technology, English, Biology and Physics and Chemistry. The school promotes ICT across levels with an intranet for internal communication and Education Manager tools for parent relations, and teacher education includes ongoing training in foreign languages, ICT and new teaching methodologies.

Exam Results

Guadalaviar was the first school in Valencia to participate in Cambridge Young Learners Examinations and has achieved strong results for over fifteen years, becoming advisers to other centers on this model of education. Starters, Movers and Flyers can be taken from primary (4th–6th), and KET, PET and FIRST in secondary.

Higher Education Progression

Elementary and Secondary Education levels gained public funding in 1999/2000; Early Childhood Education in 2011; Bachillerato (pre-university) in 2007. The school is affiliated with the University of Valencia.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school aims to develop a cultural, ethical and moral framework based on a Christian vision of life, promoting freedom and personal responsibility. Scholarships

XARXA LLIBRES
What is it? A voluntary program for reuse, replacement and renewal of textbooks and curricular material for Primary, Secondary and Bachillerato.
How does it work? In 1st and 2nd year of Primary, the aid is received as a voucher to purchase the books, as the material is not reusable. The voucher covers part of the total value of the books. For the remaining courses, Xarxa llibres assigns each student a batch of books belonging to the network, on loan.

FUNDACIÓN INICIATIVA SOCIAL
Call for Aid 2025/2026
Application deadline: Thursday, June 19, 2025. Purpose: Aids to cover school costs at Infantil, Primaria and Secundaria levels (including Bachillerato). Also available to students in Formación Profesional Básica or Intermediate Vocational Training. General age limit is 18. Geographic scope: students in centers in the Valencia Community and the Region of Murcia. Application through appfundaciones.eu platform. To apply you need: 1) create a user on the platform; 2) provide applicant data; 3) you may request aid for the children you wish.
