Hastings School Madrid was founded in 1971 and opened as a family-oriented British school. It expanded to six sites in central Madrid to serve pupils from two to eighteen years. Cognita acquired the school in 2010. From September 2022 Hastings began offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme as a 16+ option, alongside the English National Curriculum leading to GCSEs and A Levels.
Hastings School operates across six sites in central Madrid, including Paseo de La Habana, Bendición de Campos, Azulinas, Sobradiel, Lorenzo Solano Tendero and Manuel Marañón. The student body represents 55 nationalities. It emphasizes a sense of responsibility, concern for fellow pupils and respect for the school community, with a focus on understanding and tolerance of other cultures. Extracurricular activities including sports are offered, and safeguarding policies, along with a school counsellor, support pupil welfare.
Hastings School offers a British education in the heart of Madrid, operating across six specialized campuses that cater to specific developmental stages. The Paseo de la Habana campus serves as a dedicated Early Years center, providing a secure environment for children aged 2 to 5. Following the English National Curriculum, the school transitions students from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to IGCSEs, A Levels, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. A defining feature of the school is the "Nexus" Sixth Form campus, which provides a pre-university environment designed to bridge the gap between secondary school and higher education. This campus includes specialized science laboratories and an art studio to support advanced practical work. Additionally, Hastings is recognized for its "British-Spanish Dual Validation," allowing students to meet Spanish university entrance requirements (PCEs) while pursuing international qualifications. This dual focus ensures that graduates are prepared for domestic and international university pathways.
