Kensington School Madrid is a British international day school serving ages 1 to 18. The campus in Pozuelo de Alarcón combines the English National Curriculum with options to study under the Spanish system in the later stages, and offers the Cambridge IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme from September 2023. Billing schedule and payment terms

- Tuition and optional services are billed termly. Tuition is billed in three instalments in September, January and April.
- Invoice due dates: first term before 29 August, second term before 5 January, third term before 5 April.
- Optional services such as dining, transport and extracurricular activities are contracted and invoiced on a termly basis; occasional single-day use may be invoiced monthly at a higher unit rate.



Payment methods, discounts and penalties

- Default payment method: automatic direct debit for all payments. Parents who do not agree with this method must notify the financial director in writing.
- Full-year payment option: it is possible to pay the entire course in a single payment with a 1.25% reduction for early payment if settled before 17 August.
- Late/non-payment: interest may be charged at the statutory rate for late payment. A EUR 15 charge applies for each bank rejection. Continued non-payment may result in legal measures, refusal of attendance and, after a sustained period, contract termination.



Refunds, cancellations and leaving the school

- From the moment the registration fee is paid, parents have a 15-calendar-day right to cancel the registration and receive a refund of amounts previously paid.
- The registration fee is payable the first time a pupil joins the school and the school states it corresponds to processing costs and is non-refundable in standard circumstances.
- Place reservation payments are held on account of tuition and, if paid, will be deducted from the September payment of the following academic year; the reservation carries a 15-day right of cancellation for refund in line with the reservation rules.
- Under no circumstances will fees already paid to the school be refunded once the academic year has started. Cancellations made during the school year will trigger payment of the full annual amount for school materials and insurance, and fees for the whole term will remain due if cancellation occurs during a term.
- A written three (3) months' notice is required for permanent withdrawal; parents are required to pay fees during that three-month notice period.



Boarding

- Boarding is not listed among the services or charges. No boarding fees are shown in the published fee schedule.



Other practical notes on charges and billing

- School trips and certain extracurricular activities that do not run the whole year are charged separately (trips usually charged in two instalments; excursions during the school day charged at the end of each term).
- Occasional single-day uses of dining or transport carry a higher per-unit charge and are invoiced monthly.
Academics

Kensington School Madrid teaches IB (DP), British Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE for students aged 1 to 18.

Curriculum

Follows the English National Curriculum under the British education system until the Baccalaureate division; at that stage, students may study under the Spanish system. English and Spanish are studied, with French offered as a third language. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is offered from September 2023, and senior students may choose the Spanish-language Kensington Bachillerato as an alternative pathway, which provides intensive language reinforcement and leads to Cambridge Proficiency and DELF B2 certificates.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school supports social, emotional and digital development. Children gain fluency and social skills across languages. Oratory and Emotional Intelligence are offered as electives from ESO 3rd to Bach 1st and Year 7 to Year 9. The Kagan Collaborative Learning approach is applied throughout the school to promote active learning, peer coaching and collaboration.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school provides personalised education with specialist staff. Ratios and small groups are supported by 12 Teaching Assistants for Nursery to Year 2; Additional Support Teachers assist with the British curriculum in Years 1–9, and language specialists support the Spanish curriculum in Years 1–7. Pre-Nursery ratio is 1:8; Year 10 groups are formed for Maths and Spanish language, and Year 10 to Year 13 English lessons are conducted in small groups. French groups in Years 8–13 are split into smaller groups with a native-speaking assistant.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Bilingual Spanish-English immersion is provided across divisions. Year 7 demonstrates use of Spanish, French and English, with Mandarin offered as an extracurricular language. Pupils study the English National Curriculum from pre-nursery to Year 9 and can choose the Spanish Curriculum from Year 10 to Year 13 (2 Bachillerato) or continue with the English National Curriculum to Year 13 (IB). English and French are taught by native teachers, with external qualifications including Cambridge and DELF/IGCSE. DELF A1 is also available for official French examinations.

Mental Wellbeing

Pastoral care is central to the school, with welfare at the centre of daily practices. The Heads of the Pastoral Service coordinate with the School Psychologists to monitor student wellbeing, and Tutors check in with pupils daily. Oratory and Emotional Intelligence are offered as electives, and the Kagan Collaborative Learning approach supports active, collaborative learning and peer coaching.

Safeguarding

Student safety is the first priority and wellbeing is central to daily practices. Staff follow clear attendance and welfare protocols, and the Heads of the Pastoral Service liaise with School Psychologists. Tutors monitor wellbeing and communicate with families, and family conferences are available for Infant, Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate learners.
