King's College Alicante opened in the current building in 2001 as a parent cooperative, succeeding the British Council School. Academic management was entrusted to King's Group in 2005, with full control and ownership transferred to King's Group in 2010. The college is governed by the King's Group Board (KGB), which makes strategic decisions and delegates detailed planning to the academic sub-committee and the college senior leadership team. It operates two sections, primary (including the Early Years Foundation Stage) and secondary (years 7–13), serving pupils aged from 32 months to 18 years.
Parental involvement is a central feature of school life. Parents are invited to meetings and presentations throughout the year, including formal orientation meetings for transitions and informal coffee mornings and information workshops. There are frequent opportunities for parent involvement through open sessions and workshops, book look weekends, and use of Tapestry, Class Dojo and Doddle to communicate with parents about their child's learning. Parents express satisfaction with the knowledge, visibility and approachability of senior leaders and teachers and are seen as partners in their child's learning.
