Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Founded in 1969 by Sir Roger Fry. By 1974 student numbers reached about 500 and multiple premises were used in the Chamartin area of Madrid. In 1978 the main school moved to its present, purpose-built site in Soto de Viñuelas. A boarding residence, Tenbury House, opened in 2011. A sports centre and a 15-lab science block were built in 2017, and in 2019 the school celebrated its 50th anniversary and joined Inspired.

Community

King's College Soto serves the Madrid and Tres Cantos communities. Native English teachers deliver the England and Wales national curriculum up to the IGCSE, and the school offers A-levels and the IB Diploma in English. The school provides personalised learning support and a multidisciplinary programme of academic, sports, and cultural activities. Alumni have secured scholarships and admission to leading institutions; the school arranges regular excursions to environmental, historical, and cultural sites, and invites guest speakers to assemblies and leadership events.
