Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Lycée Français International de Murcie is a private, multilingual, laïque (secular) and international school that belongs to the Mission Laïque Française (MLF) network, a worldwide system with about 400,000 students in 500 lycées across 137 countries. The school opened its doors in 1987, offering education from kindergarten (from age 2) through Terminale. It is accredited by the French Ministry of National Education, meeting French requirements and employing teachers trained in France who have passed the French concours. The institution blends the model and values of public French education with Spanish instruction (Spanish, literature, history and geography) and prepares students for higher education in France, Spain or English-speaking countries.

Community

LFIM's community life centers on cultural and historical activities involving students, families, and staff. In 2019, students commemorated the end of World War I with poems and songs, in an event attended by the Consul General of France and the President of the Union Française des Combattants residing in Spain. The school also hosts large community events such as the annual Marché de Noël Solidaire, a campus-wide celebration featuring student and alumni performances, extracurricular demonstrations, crafts, and a charity paella organized by the Association des Parents d'Élèves (APA). The event strengthens community ties and invites participation from families region-wide.

Parent-Teacher Association

The Association des Parents d'Élèves (APA) functions as the Parents' Association linked to the Lycée Français International de Murcie. It organizes activities that foster community and support school programs, including the Marché de Noël Solidaire, with live student choir performances, demonstrations, crafts, and a charity paella prepared by the APA. The 2025 edition highlighted the poster designed by three CM2 students, a live alumni concert, and a day-long program ending with a traditional Tombola. Paella meals are sold in advance to manage logistics and reduce waste, with proceeds benefiting the school community.
