After-school activities and programs extend and challenge students beyond the curriculum. Activities vary each term and students choose their preferences in consultation with their class teacher or tutor. Some activities are taught by the school's teachers, while others are led by external specialist instructors, and there is an extra charge for some programs.
Modern Dance and PEQUECHEF are offered as after-school activities. The programs give students opportunities to explore creative performance and culinary skills beyond classroom lessons. Some activities are run by external specialists and may incur an additional charge.
Annual events celebrate culture and language. Canary Day features Canarian dancing, sports and traditional games, with parents joining for a Canarian food celebration. Spanish Peace Day is observed in Term 2. World Book Day and International Day are celebrated, along with other cultural days such as Earth Day, World Oceans Day and World Bee Day.
There are after-school activities including team sports such as football, basketball, tennis and volleyball. There are arts-based options such as Modern Dance and Rhythmic Gymnastics. Students sign up for activities, and some programs involve external instructors and additional charges.
We encourage our students to look beyond themselves and their school and to take an interest in the wider community and global issues. Halloween events raise funds for charity through a Halloween Disco. Race Against Hunger is a sport activity to raise funds for Action against Hunger.
Weekly assemblies help pupils develop self-confidence, drama and public speaking. Theatrical productions in Primary and Secondary give pupils opportunities to act, dance and sing in public, building leadership and presentation skills. Graduation ceremonies celebrate the next steps as students move on to university studies.
Life Skills (PSHE) is taught weekly in every year group. It is organized under three headings: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World. Topics include mental health and emotional wellbeing, healthy lifestyles, safe online life, media literacy, money matters and work and career considerations.
