UNESCO's Delors pillars guide the approach, identifying learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and learning to live together. Historically formal education has prioritized the first two pillars, but Obradoiro places great importance on emotional intelligence to prepare future adults. The IB continuum is used to support holistic development across intellectual, physical, emotional, and ethical dimensions.

It recognises the four UNESCO pillars of education and aims to develop students across physical, intellectual, emotional, and ethical domains through the IB framework (PYP, MYP and DP).
