Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The school was founded in 1988, creating a new school in Girona which offered immersion into the English language. The founder of the school, Sr Francesc Sayol, began this project with around 20 pupils who grew with the school until 2001 when they graduated as the first promotion of students to complete their Baccalaureate studies. The school's intake has grown over the years to 700 pupils and with a total staff of 80. The school began with one building but now houses three separate buildings with large sports grounds.

Community

The school maintains a vibrant community with ongoing news and events. The Red Cross Toy Collection Campaign involves pupils and families. Primary 6 visited La Pedrera to see how nature inspired Gaudí's work, and Nursery & Infants 1 participated in Autumn Workshops. Batxillerat students attended a University Orientation Day at Auditori de Girona.

Saint George's School – Girona is a private day school for pupils aged 1 to 18, on a 20,000 square metre campus near Girona. Founded in 1988, it has grown to about 700 students taught across three buildings: Infants, Primary/Secondary, and the Baccalaureate Building. The curriculum follows a British framework with SEN‑focused, bespoke approaches. English is the principal language of teaching and learning, with immersion from early years. In Primary, all subjects are taught in English, with Catalan, Spanish and French taught regularly. In Secondary, English immersion continues; in Years 3–4 some subjects are taught in Spanish or Catalan to aid higher education preparation, and French remains a second foreign language. Cambridge UCLES examinations are offered and the school hosts DELF certificates. The campus includes a library, ICT, music, art, technology rooms, science labs, an indoor pool and a gym, plus extensive outdoor spaces such as forests, gardens, an astro-turf football pitch and courts.
