The PSHE programme reinforces the school's values and supports pupils' personal development. The Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development framework fosters positive relationships, a strong sense of community, and pupil wellbeing. Pupils are free from bullying and feel listened to, and they are confident and encouraged to participate actively in lessons. Self-esteem is developed through supportive feedback and praise.
The school is committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all students, whatever their needs or abilities. Every child's contribution is valued and diversity is celebrated, with provision for different needs treated as a whole‑school responsibility. The four broad SEN categories are communications and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and sensory and/or physical needs. Identification, assessment and planning are ongoing, with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), parental involvement, and collaboration with external agencies as needed, including staged support and access to Educational Psychologists or Speech Therapists where appropriate.
Mental wellbeing is addressed within the SEN framework, which recognises social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) as a key area for support. Wellbeing is reinforced through the PSHE programme and pastoral practices that promote positive relationships and a caring school climate. When required, the school can involve the Educational Psychologist and other specialists to set targets and strategies for individual students. Positive relationships, a sense of belonging, and active participation in school life support pupils' emotional resilience.
The school has safeguarding and anti‑bullying policies, with checks in place to ensure safe recruitment of all staff. Access to the site is supervised at the start and end of the day, and there are clear evacuation routes and accident procedures. Pupil welfare is safeguarded through comprehensive measures and pupils are protected and listened to, with a strong emphasis on a safe, respectful school environment.
