SEK International School Catalunya was founded in 1995 as a private trilingual school (Catalan-Spanish-English) located in the Els Tremolencs estate in La Garriga, Barcelona; it offers international boarding on campus. It is part of SEK Education Group, which has over 130 years of teaching experience and nine schools worldwide. It is the only school in Catalonia accredited to teach all three International Baccalaureate Organisation programmes—the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP)—alongside the Spanish national curriculum. The SEK Group is rooted in a hundred-year family tradition of freedom and autonomy, free from religious, political or financial ties, and develops education through its own unique system and resources. Camilo José Cela University was established in 2000 to foster teaching, research and innovation.
SEK-Catalunya is a private IB World School with a diverse community of cultures and nationalities who live, study, and call it home. SEK International School Catalunya is a private international campus in La Garriga, near Barcelona, offering an International Baccalaureate programme for children from 4 months to 18 years. The school delivers the full IB continuum—PYP, MYP and DP—alongside elements of the Spanish curriculum, with a multilingual language model in which about 70% of teaching is conducted in English, 15% in Catalan and 15% in Spanish. From Year 5, students may study a fourth language, French or German. The campus combines on-site facilities with access to a woodland setting, supporting project work, outdoor education and sport. Highlights include intelligent classrooms, dedicated science laboratories, a MakerSpace and robotics labs, libraries for all age groups, and a concert hall connected to Trinity College London music programmes.
