Facilities Overview

The school is designed to hold up to 1,200 students on 30,000 m2 of grounds and more than 8,000 m2 of facilities. Facilities include classrooms, a canteen and kitchen areas, a library, study rooms, a gym, the Forum, a versatile function room, the office and reception area, workshops, music laboratories, art, robotics, technology, biology, physics and chemistry laboratories, and indoor and outdoor sports areas, gardens and vegetable patches. The building features sustainability measures including rainwater collection to irrigate gardens and vegetable patches; façade glass and interior walls provide abundant natural light and warmth in winter; smart blinds track the sun to provide shade in summer; and windows at different heights enable healthy ventilation. Indoor spaces are flexible and outdoor spaces such as gardens and play areas have aesthetic and pedagogical functions. The school operates as an educational space with safety measures during Covid-19, including ventilation protocols and use of outdoor spaces.

Sports Facilities

The school has 3,100 m2 of outdoor sports area and a multipurpose covered Sports Hall with complementary services. Students have specialist teachers in sports and psychomotor skills at all ages, and swimming lessons in the early years of Primary are included in Physical Education within the timetable and fees. The school participates in local championships such as the Schools Olympics and hosts sporting events such as the Socrates Educa® International School Mile. The Sports Club promotes volleyball, football and basketball as team sports, and judo, yoga, chess and skating as individual sports. Sports activities are available to students, parents and staff alike.

Academic Facilities

The educational model comes to life in spaces and buildings that foster diverse and creative teaching. The Forum space serves as a meeting point for students, teachers and families, and there are spaces for sports, music and technology, laboratories and workshops. The classrooms are well soundproofed, ventilated and bright, with large windows that provide natural light. The design of classrooms, corridors, inner courtyards and gardens supports flexible and varied teaching throughout the year and uses the region's good weather. The school is a pioneer in learning technologies, with robotics and computer programming integrated into teaching, and classrooms equipped with cutting-edge technology and capable staff.

Extra-Curricular Activities

During the school year, infants from P3 and members of the Socrates Educa community can participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities during midday and after school. Activities are organized into Experiences: Music Experience, Sport Experience, Language & Talent Experience, STEM & Lab Experience, Art Experience and other topics outside the academic sphere. The Extracurricular Activities service also arranges activities on arrival of new students and manages language courses and sports for adults. Activities run termly with midday and/or after-school timetables and require termly registration and payment.

Socrates Educa International School is a boarding and day community in Spain serving learners from ages 1 to 18, with on-site residences, host-family options and sports academies. The school offers Cambridge Primary, the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the American Curriculum and the Japanese Curriculum, with progression from P1 to national and international qualifications. Robotics, programming and laboratory work are embedded in teaching, with emphasis on regular discussions, group projects and presentations. Founded as a civic, non-profit initiative, the Socrates Educa Foundation was established in 2007 and opened in 2012. The campus spans 30,000 m2 with over 8,000 m2 of facilities, including laboratories, libraries, a Forum and flexible classrooms. Sustainable features include rainwater irrigation, solar energy and wind power. Outdoor sports cover 3,100 m2, with a multipurpose hall and swimming. The environment is multilingual, with English immersion and Catalan, Spanish and Chinese. Cambridge accreditation as trainer and examiner supports the academic programme.
