English is the instruction language; Spanish and Catalan are compulsory language studies; French is available from Year 7; Chinese is an after‑school option; Sixth Form includes English, Spanish and French; language assessments are supported by Cambridge International, Edexcel and the IB Diploma Programme; the ILOS programme provides language‑related opportunities.
All subjects are taught in English by British native teachers, with Spanish, French and Catalan language classes taught by native teachers in each language. Spanish language starts at age 4, Catalan at age 6, and French is introduced in Year 7. Chinese is offered as an optional after‑school activity. Pupils primarily communicate in English.
Children are immersed in a fully English environment from the start. Early Years use English for daily interaction, with Spanish introduced as a subject from Reception. In Primary, all pupils study English, Maths and Science in English while Spanish and Catalan are taught through Language and Social Studies; in Secondary, IGCSE subjects are taught in English with Spanish and Catalan language studies; Sixth Form offers English, Spanish and French with language‑level grouping. The ISP IL0S programme provides real‑world language experiences.
St. George Barcelona is a private British international school in Barcelona for ages 2 to 18. The curriculum blends EYFS and the British National Curriculum, with Cambridge IGCSE, Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme offered in the Sixth Form. Classes are taught in English by native teachers; Spanish, Catalan and French are taught as language subjects. Spanish starts at age 4, Catalan at 6, and French is introduced in Year 7; both languages are mandatory. In Secondary (Years 9–11) students prepare for IGCSE exams, followed by the IB Diploma in Sixth Form.
