Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

St. George Barcelona opened its doors in 2015, offering a full British education to students in Barcelona from Early Years to Sixth Form. In 2019 the school relocated to larger premises in a residential area in the centre of the city, enhancing the campus with science labs, art and music spaces, an indoor gym, green areas and spacious libraries. In 2021 the school was authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), enabling students to access the IB Diploma within a private school in Barcelona.

Community

St. George Barcelona fosters a family-like atmosphere where students feel safe and happy, and transitions into the school community are supported for children and families. The school has students from over 60 nationalities, creating a rich multicultural environment, and multicultural events throughout the year help share languages and cultures. The community also participates in talent contests, speech competitions, painting contests, musical activities and sports competitions to showcase student talents outside the classroom.

St. George Barcelona is a private British international school in Barcelona for ages 2 to 18. The curriculum blends EYFS and the British National Curriculum, with Cambridge IGCSE, Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme offered in the Sixth Form. Classes are taught in English by native teachers; Spanish, Catalan and French are taught as language subjects. Spanish starts at age 4, Catalan at 6, and French is introduced in Year 7; both languages are mandatory. In Secondary (Years 9–11) students prepare for IGCSE exams, followed by the IB Diploma in Sixth Form. Opened in 2015 and relocated in 2019, the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi campus features three science laboratories, an auditorium, music rooms, an art room, extensive libraries, green outdoor spaces, a dining hall and an on-site nurse. ISP partnerships enrich science, arts and leadership through global projects, including MUN, Artists and Scientists programs. The programmes foster global collaboration.
