Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) is a learning programme designed to help children acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives. PSHE is integrated into all aspects of school life at St. George's. The PSHE course develops the qualities and attributes students need to thrive as individuals, family members, and members of society. We explore positive relationships, self-image and communication skills through day-to-day interactions. There are dedicated PSHE moments through Circle time and in PSHE classes.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The SEN Department aims to provide a professional, appropriate and effective support system to facilitate teaching and learning. Educational Psychologists have extensive training and experience in child and adolescent psychology and address issues including specific learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural problems, support for gifted and talented students and therapeutic intervention. The department identifies problems at early stages and offers short- or longer-term solutions. It provides individual attention and works in close cooperation with teachers and families to ensure that every child can fulfil their maximum academic and personal potential. The department offers diversity and psychological evaluation, university preparation, and support for families and teachers. Each case is monitored, and personalised programmes are established to ensure progress at the student's own pace.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

From age 2, St. George's provides multilingual education with strong English language immersion. All subjects are taught in English, with Spanish, Basque, and Social Studies taught in Spanish. The school follows the English National Curriculum. Personalised attention supports language development and learning progress. This English-language emphasis reflects the school's bilingual and international approach.

Mental Wellbeing

The school aims for every student to be happy to come to school each day. PSHE education helps students develop the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives. PSHE is integrated into all aspects of school life and includes Circle time and dedicated PSHE moments. Safeguarding is a priority, and every staff member receives safeguarding training to identify issues and to ensure that adults do not pose a risk to students. The PSHE programme promotes positive relationships, self-image and communication skills as part of the school's wellbeing focus.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is a core priority. Every member of staff receives safeguarding training to identify personal issues that students may face and to ensure that adults do not pose a risk to them.
