The English International College follows the British curriculum and places happiness and well-being at the center of learning. Students are encouraged to be inquisitive, independent learners who express their ideas with tolerance and respect. Strong working relationships between teachers and students support a caring, supportive environment in which learners feel able to question, take risks and seek help. The school emphasises developing confidence and social-emotional skills alongside academic achievement.
The Learning Support Team works across all phases to ensure every student has the tools, confidence and guidance they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. No two learners are the same, and provision reflects this with a range of specialist programmes and services. Stepping Stones helps younger students build foundations in English and core subjects, with tailored Learning Support sessions throughout the Primary years. A dedicated Wellbeing and Counselling service supports emotional health, while an Educational Psychologist works with staff, students and families to create evidence-based strategies. Empathy, Integrity and Community underpin Each student reaches their goals through the EIC values.
Stepping Stones is a two-year programme for Years 1 and 2 designed to immerse students in the English language and address curriculum gaps so they can access the National Curriculum. The programme is delivered in small groups and tailored to individual needs, focusing on English and Maths while integrating students into the wider curriculum. Initially five days a week, Stepping Stones expands and adapts as students progress toward full participation in the main classroom.
The school fosters a positive environment where kindness, respect and inclusion are central. The Wellbeing and Counselling service supports the emotional, behavioural and social development of students, providing a safe, confidential space to express thoughts and feelings and to develop coping skills. Workshops and seminars for year groups, parents and staff support wellbeing, alongside the Educational Psychologist's work to personalise learning and promote resilience.
Safeguarding aims to ensure appropriate action is taken in a timely manner to safeguard and promote children's welfare.
