Admissions

Admissions
Step 1: Start the application. Complete the Enrolment Form online via the Admissions Enquiry heading to begin the admissions process and to arrange a school tour. An Admissions Officer is available to assist with questions at any stage. A visit to meet staff and observe classes is encouraged before making a decision.
Step 2: Register documents and pay the registration fee. Submit the last two school reports and the child's birth certificate and passport, along with both parents' passports. Include NIEs (where possible), Empadronamiento (Residence Certificate in Tenerife) if available, and current telephone and contact details. The registration fee is €160, a one-off payment refundable only if Wingate cannot offer a place or partially refundable if you withdraw before a formal offer.
Step 3: Interview, offer, or waiting list. If a class place is available, an interview is arranged with at least one parent and the child, in person or via Skype. If a place is offered, you receive an automated acceptance email followed by a detailed email with the start date and payment information. If the class is full, you are placed on the waiting list and will be contacted when a place becomes available (Wingate may offer a place in a younger year if appropriate). If Wingate determines the school is not right for your child, the registration fee will be refunded.
Step 4: Deposits, Chromebook and language. The deposit is due one month after acceptance (unless the date is earlier). For Year 5 and above, a Chromebook must be purchased, with payment due one month after acceptance. The school teaches in English. EAL students should refer to the EAL Policy for parental responsibilities.
Step 5: Year placement and KS4/Sixth Form entry. Students are placed in the correct age year group based on UK birth-date ranges; if the chosen year is full or unsuitable, Wingate will discuss an alternative placement with you. Entry into KS4 or the Sixth Form is not normally offered directly into Year 11 or Year 13. Entry requires meeting minimum thresholds, an interview with the Head or Head of Sixth Form, and satisfactory references from the previous school.
Step 6: SEND and additional support. Wingate does not currently accept students with SEND; parents must disclose any SEND at application. If a student is accepted and later requires extra support, additional charges may apply, and external SEND assessments may be recommended within two months; final decisions are made in the best interests of the child.
Step 7: Waiting lists and siblings. Waiting lists are used when a class is full; positions are determined to maintain high English-language standards; Wingate's decision on waiting list placement is final. Siblings are not automatically admitted; if spaces are not available in the desired year, a place for a sibling may be offered on the waiting list.
Step 8: Policies and documents. The School Policies cover admissions procedures, EAL expectations, SEND provisions, and year-group placement guidance.
