Mälardalen International School was founded by Industritekniska Gymnasiet AB's owner Fredrik Svensson in close collaboration with business partners including Hitachi and Västerås municipality. The school opened in January 2022 in Finnslätten, Västerås. It is the only IB World School in the region authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP). It is a primary school for children aged 5-16. For the 2025-2026 academic year, MISV lists PYP fees of 50,000 SEK per year and MYP fees of 60,000 SEK per year, with fees covering learning materials, daily lunch and snacks, and excursions.
English is MISV's internal working language, and students also learn Swedish language and culture. MISV is a primary school for children aged 5-16 with 23 nationalities represented and 26 languages spoken. It offers the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) with 100% internationally experienced IB teaching staff. The MISV learning community engages with people and communities to enrich learning experiences beyond the classroom.
