Founded in 1910, Beau Soleil is one of the oldest private boarding schools in Switzerland. Its history spans three generations of the De Meyer family; originating from Gstaad, the school moved to Villars at the start of the 20th century to benefit from abundant sunshine and a climate tempered by the lake's breezes. Madame Bluette Ferrier, the first headmistress, established a holistic educational philosophy that emphasizes mind and body development. Pierre de Meyer and his son Jérôme expanded the school with new facilities and helped cement its reputation as one of the world's leading schools. In 2011 Beau Soleil joined Nord Anglia Education and continues to embody values of respect, responsibility, ambition, and determination.
Beau Soleil fosters a close-knit, international community. The boarding program centers on six houses, each a warm, welcoming home where students from around the world form lifelong friendships. The international community is tightly knit and supportive, providing a nurturing living and learning environment beyond the classroom. The campus supports a culture of creativity and collaboration with spaces like The Hub, which houses design, technology, and film programs, alongside extensive outdoor and cultural travel experiences.
