Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

The school offers bilingual programmes in English and French with native-speaking language teachers in each subject. From primary onwards, reading, writing, maths and English are consolidated, and pupils are placed on the pre-gymnasial track from age 11, with two years of Latin and two years of Maths-Physics. The maths curriculum follows the Singapore programme with a workbook-based, individualised approach, and advanced learners can be prepared for the Euler Course. Science is taught with regular experiments and outings, and Philosophy for Children develops reasoning and ethical thinking; study trips to Rome and Vienna broaden academic horizons.

Arts and Creative

Art is taught by a specialist from the start of primary, covering techniques such as drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and collage, with annual competitions and after-school art activities. Music & Choir include music history, theory and choir, with a Christmas choir and bilingual performances. Twice-yearly shows, including a bilingual end-of-year theatre production, showcase student creativity. After-school activities include painting, sewing, modelling and other crafts, with opportunities for private music lessons.

Cultural and Language

English is taught in Immersion or Native Level, with progression to higher levels and a focus on reading, writing and grammar in both languages. German begins from 3P with a German-speaking teacher, while Latin starts in 3P as a short workshop and continues through OS Latin for interested students. French Native follows the French curriculum with emphasis on language study, grammar, literature and a dedicated French essay course. The programme includes study trips and exchanges that focus on art, culture and language, such as Rome and Vienna visits on a rotating basis.

Social and Hobbies

After-school activities catalog includes Music, Chess Club, Swimming, Sewing, Modelling, Painting and more, with private music lessons available. Ski camp and Sailing camp are offered, along with sports days and other outdoor activities to build team spirit. Secondary students participate in supervised homework and a range of clubs (e.g., German Club, Yoga, Theatre) and can join private lessons or after-school workshops. Festivities and social events, including Halloween, Christmas carols, end-of-year theatre, and family gatherings, punctuate the year.

Leadership and Professional

Leadership develops through student roles such as team captains in Sports Games, chosen from final-year students to lead morning and afternoon teams and mentor younger pupils. Older students mentor new pupils during their first days, helping them integrate and learn the school rules. Participation in after-school activities, study trips and group projects provides opportunities to exercise initiative and leadership in diverse settings. The school emphasizes autonomous work, project involvement and responsible participation in school life.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

The school prioritises pupil well-being, emphasizing personalised development, kindness and a supportive learning environment. It promotes a balanced routine with long outdoor breaks, a large playground and free play to foster independence and social skills. Meals are prepared on site by a French chef with a Fourchette Verte label and dietary needs are catered for, including allergy considerations. The program runs from 8:00am to 6:30pm (6:00pm on Fridays) with a varied menu of after-school activities to support wellbeing and both academic and personal growth.

École Bilingue de Suisse Romande is a private bilingual school in Lausanne serving children aged 3 to 15. It offers a programme drawing on French, British, Cambridge IGCSE, Singapore and Swiss curricula, with English-French bilingual immersion from early years. The youngest learners follow a 50/50 language split, with two years of English immersion for francophone pupils and a transition year; from Year 3, French elements are introduced and the programme becomes fully bilingual with native speakers in both languages. In primary, subjects are taught by specialists; the English component aligns with British standards while maths follows the Singapore Programme and geometry follows a French programme. The path continues through Collège with Gymnase entrance. The school occupies an Art Deco building (1913) shared with Lemania's IB section and has a science laboratory and a craft workshop. Extras include ski and sailing camps, exchanges with German students, trips to Rome and Vienna.
