Facilities

Resources and spaces that support learning and development

Facilities Overview

The school is located in the heart of Lausanne and has a large tree-filled and flowering courtyard with a vegetable patch and a playground, a lovely terrace, and a large sports field at the back that can be used all year round. The classrooms occupy the first two floors of a charming, listed Art Deco building, built for Lemania School in 1913. The rooms are bright and sunny, cool in summer and well-equipped without unnecessary luxury. We have chosen solidity and simplicity: most work is done at the desk, but computers and tablets are available for specific tasks, such as individualized work or internet research in science. Interactive whiteboards are used in all classes and on an ad hoc basis, typically in science.

Sports Facilities

We have a sports field that was fully renovated a few years ago and can now be used all year round, thanks to its artificial turf surface. Shaded by cedar trees, the field has sheds that house our sports equipment. Mont-Repos Swimming Pool is 15 minutes away by foot, and swimming is included in the regular sports classes and also offered as an after-school activity. Lausanne's nearby facilities for athletics and team sports, such as Stade Pierre-de-Coubertin and Stade de Vidy, are used for certain activities.

Academic Facilities

Well-equipped classrooms: The Lemania building we rent was designed as a school from the outset; the rooms are well-proportioned, high-ceilinged, large and bright. Some classrooms retain their classical look while others have been modernised. All classrooms have an interactive whiteboard and a number of desktop or laptop computers; the tables are generally individual to allow for flexible organisation. iPads can be borrowed by teachers for specific projects. Science Laboratory: We share a state-of-the-art, fully equipped science laboratory with the IB section of Lemania School, used by our secondary students for physics and chemistry experiments. Craft workshop: A real woodworking workshop has been set up on the ground floor for STEM classes, where students learn to use a hammer, a saw, a drill and other tools while tackling technological challenges.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Extra-curricular activities include ski camps and sailing camps; outings and visits are part of the programme, with exchanges with German students and museum visits.

École Bilingue de Suisse Romande is a private bilingual school in Lausanne serving children aged 3 to 15. It offers a programme drawing on French, British, Cambridge IGCSE, Singapore and Swiss curricula, with English-French bilingual immersion from early years. The youngest learners follow a 50/50 language split, with two years of English immersion for francophone pupils and a transition year; from Year 3, French elements are introduced and the programme becomes fully bilingual with native speakers in both languages. In primary, subjects are taught by specialists; the English component aligns with British standards while maths follows the Singapore Programme and geometry follows a French programme. The path continues through Collège with Gymnase entrance. The school occupies an Art Deco building (1913) shared with Lemania's IB section and has a science laboratory and a craft workshop. Extras include ski and sailing camps, exchanges with German students, trips to Rome and Vienna.
