ENSR was among the first private schools in Switzerland to introduce personalised teaching, hands-on learning and regular outdoor activities. It offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma and the Swiss Maturity, and was an early adopter of the IB in 1971. Instruction is bilingual in French and English from Kindergarten through High School, with additional language options including German, Italian, Spanish and Chinese. The IB Diploma and Swiss Maturity diplomas are recognized by universities worldwide.
Journée Continue offers a wide range of midday and afternoon activities beyond the traditional program, designed to develop expression and balance across artistic, technical and physical domains. Afternoon activities are optional for Pavillon and Middle School students, with 16:30–18:00 activities available for older Primary and Middle School students. There are additional 16:30–18:00 activities for some Primary and Middle School classes. Creativity on Stage is fostered through theatre programmes that develop self-expression, confidence and teamwork.
The school offers a French or English curriculum, with bilingual instruction in French and English from Kindergarten through High School. There are additional language options including German, Italian, Spanish and Chinese. The ENSR Parents' Association (APE) is a non-profit open to all parents; it gathers volunteer parents who organize events, humanitarian and educational projects, and provide support during sport competitions. Its mission is the daily well-being of children and the heart of ENSR. The Alumni Association has actively contributed to life at ENSR since its foundation and appoints representatives to the Board of Directors. This structure supports family and alumni involvement in school activities and community life.
The Parents' Association coordinates humanitarian and educational projects and events, while volunteers help during sports competitions. Alumni involvement and associations contribute to campus life and governance, reinforcing community engagement and service within the ENSR community.
A university orientation service helps ENSR alumni gain admission to renowned institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Oxford, ETH Zurich, University of Zurich, EPFL Lausanne and the University of Lausanne. The school publishes newsletters six times per year to keep families informed. IB and Swiss Maturity diplomas are recognized by universities worldwide.
The sports program covers football, volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, unihockey, swimming, badminton, cross-country, track and field, horseback riding and skiing, and participates in interscholastic competitions. The extended day runs from 7:30 to 18:30, with lunch activities from 12:30 to 13:15 and optional afternoon activities for Pavillon and Middle School, plus 16:30–18:00 activities for older students. Wednesday afternoons, Saturdays and holidays are used for camps such as skiing and windsurfing, as well as courses and incentives like golf and horseback riding.
École Nouvelle de la Suisse Romande (ENSR) is a private, non-profit bilingual international school in Lausanne, founded in 1906. Serving ages 3 to 18, ENSR offers a bilingual Swiss curriculum with an International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB DP) option at Gymnase. The school guides learners from Maternelle Montessori (French‑English instruction for ages 2.5–6) through Primaire and Collège to Gymnase, where the Maturité Suisse or IB is chosen by the end of year 10. ENSR also runs One Year in Romandie, a French-language program with English or an English-language option for immersion in a Francophone environment. The campus spans 2.5 hectares in Lausanne, featuring gym, sports courts, library, and dining with Swiss ingredients. A boarding program serves around 60 students. The school emphasizes multilingual instruction from kindergarten, with German, Italian, Spanish and Chinese offered as languages.
