English Secondary follows the British national curriculum in preparation for Cambridge IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Years 10–11 study Cambridge IGCSE, while Years 12–13 pursue the IB Diploma, either in English or bilingually in French and English. IIL is an IB World School authorised to teach the IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE, with a language policy that fosters plurilingual learning and offers additional languages such as German, Spanish, Chinese or Italian. The school provides official language certifications (DELF, Cambridge English, Goethe, Instituto Cervantes, Confucius) to support future study, and its digital learning approach has Apple Distinguished School status.
Staff teach creative subjects such as art and design, music, theatre, media studies, film and S.T.E.A.M at all levels. A broad set of experiences develops students' artistic talents and creative skills, with opportunities across the arts. Multiple arts-based extracurricular activities are proposed, including creative writing classes, art and piano lessons.
IIL uses a plurilingual language policy with English learning integrated into the French section and French learning integrated into the English section, building linguistic bridges across the school. Languages taught include English and French, with additional options such as German, Spanish, Chinese or Italian depending on the section. IIL promotes intercultural learning in a diverse, international community of over 90 nationalities.
IIL offers a broad calendar of social and hobby activities, including more than 50 extracurricular sporting, cultural and artistic activities available during lunch and after school. The school organized its first Talent Show in 2026, showcasing performances in dance, music, magic, theatre and more. Students may participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (Bronze, Silver, Gold) to develop volunteering, physical activity, skills and expeditions.
IIL runs humanitarian projects throughout the year, inviting students to participate in bake sales and school-wide solidarity campaigns. A flagship initiative included Cook and Succeed Together, feeding meals to the homeless in Geneva with volunteers and donors supporting regular distributions. IIL participates in Eco-Schools with an Eco-School Council and environmental projects across the campus. IB CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) is integrated into the Diploma Programme, linking creative and service projects to learning outcomes.
Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is offered as an accredited centre, encouraging students to take on responsibilities and set personal goals through volunteering, physical activity, skills and expeditions (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Our university guidance programme provides year-by-year university and careers counselling from year 7 to year 13, helping students explore options and prepare university applications. These opportunities support leadership development and help students plan their futures beyond school.
Physical education is central, with a wide range of sports taught across English, French and bilingual programmes and dedicated coaches. Sports trips and class activities build cohesion, with offerings from track and field to indoor climbing and team games. The Elite Sports & Art Programme tailors timetables to allow elite athletes and artists to train and compete while continuing their studies, supported by digital tools for remote coaching. KiVa anti-bullying programme supports prevention, intervention and monitoring, with staff trained to recognize and address bullying.
Institut International de Lancy is a private international bilingual school in Switzerland serving ages 3 to 18. The curriculum spans EYFS, British and French Bilingual Curricula in the Primary years, and English or French Secondary programmes, leading to Cambridge IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme. An IB World School and Cambridge IGCSE centre, IIL also offers an Advanced Bilingual IB Diploma option and a plurilingual language policy that blends English in the French section and French in the English section. The school is non-profit, founded in 1903 as Collège Marie-Thérèse, and celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2023; in 2025 it opened a fourth building as part of ongoing expansion. The campus combines historic and modern buildings with solar panels and green roofs. Facilities include a S.T.E.A.M Lab, four science labs, a media studio, a media library and multiple gymnasia. Digital learning is embedded (iPad for every student; interactive screens; coding/robotics).
