Students develop belonging and cultural understanding while gaining skills to participate confidently in a global world. The approach emphasizes relationships, trust, and cross-disciplinary connections.
Giftedness and other diagnoses are welcomed; EVERY child is different and the school adapts to the child rather than forcing them through a fixed path. The school follows Lehrplan21 and personalizes learning beyond it to meet individual needs. Transitions to public schools or Gymnasium are possible, and the secondary school is planned to be added in 2025.
The school is bilingual in German and English, with daily immersion in both languages in lessons, play, and conversation. About half the team is German-speaking and the other half English-speaking, creating an authentic bilingual environment. Language is learned through daily use rather than fixed blocks, fostering fluency in both languages. Other languages, such as programming, music and philosophy, are encouraged.
Body Competence combines movement, mindfulness, balance, and breathwork to support students' physical and mental wellbeing. It is led by a sports and physical education specialist and includes activities such as badminton, hockey, football, gymnastics, yoga, and martial arts. The program aims to enhance body awareness, mindfulness, and overall wellbeing as part of everyday learning.
Schutzkonzept School of Tomorrow (Stand: 01 September 2021) is the safeguarding concept. It follows Swiss federal Covid measures and requires staff and the school community to comply with the concept; Cecilia Hauser, Administrative Lead, is responsible for safeguarding. The plan includes hygiene and distancing rules, air-quality measures with plants and sensors, regular cleaning, and hand hygiene. It also covers isolation/quarantine procedures for symptomatic or exposed individuals and guidance to follow authorities, with communications prepared by the school for isolation or quarantine situations.
School of Tomorrow - Schloss Sihlberg is a bilingual day school located in a 19th-century castle in Zurich’s Enge district. The school follows the Swiss Lehrplan 21 while integrating a comprehensive English-language program, preparing students for both local and international pathways, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Learning is organized into mixed-age groups rather than traditional grade-level classrooms, utilizing "Homebases" and specialized "micro-environments" for project-based work. The campus features dedicated spaces for digital literacy where primary students use personal iPads for research and coding. A distinctive feature of the school is its "Entrepreneur Friday" for older students and the "Friday Club" for younger ones, which shifts the focus from standard academics to practical projects and community activities. Instruction is delivered simultaneously by English and German-speaking educators in the same room, ensuring constant immersion.
