Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Hua Hin International School opened in August 2015 as an independent international day school founded by a board of directors experienced in international education. It has grown steadily, welcoming its first graduating cohorts in recent years, which now form part of an engaged alumni group that remains connected to the school community. The school is overseen by a governing board and maintains licensed status with the Thai Ministry of Education. It has not undergone a change in ownership since its establishment.

Community

The HHIS community regularly comes together for cultural and environmental events such as the Loy Krathong celebration, where students perform traditional Thai dances and songs. Events like Year 4’s art campaign—featuring artwork tied to conservation themes—actively involve parents, students, and staff in collaborative projects. Fundraisers, such as school-wide silent auctions and sales that benefit local charities, further strengthen the bond between the school and its supporting community.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school benefits from robust parental involvement, demonstrated through both formal and informal community initiatives. For example, parents actively participate in silent auctions held during art events, with proceeds directed toward charitable causes. Sporting gatherings, like staff–parent football matches, offer a relaxed social setting that brings families and staff together through light-hearted competition. Although HHIS doesn’t appear to operate a formal PTA, these events reflect a strong partnership between parents and the school, which contributes positively to the school’s community spirit.
