International School Bangkok (ISB) was founded in 1951 as the International Children’s Center in central Bangkok to serve expatriate families. It was renamed ISB in 1957 when the International School Association (ISA) was formed. The school relocated to Sukhumvit Soi 15 in 1960 to accommodate growth, and later moved to Soi 49 in 1967. In 1992, ISB opened its purpose-built campus in Nichada Thani, Nonthaburi. It is governed as a not-for-profit school by the ISA and a parent-elected Board of Trustees.
ISB hosts a variety of community events throughout the year, fostering a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. These events include the Intercultural Family Fair, Concert in the Park, and the Community Marketplace, which bring together students, parents, and staff. The school also celebrates cultural diversity through events like Intercultural Week, featuring performances such as traditional Thai Khon dance.
The ISB Parent Teacher Association (PTA) plays an active role in enhancing the school community. It organizes various events, including weekly popcorn days, adult education classes for parents, and social gatherings like the Parent Volunteer Luncheon. The PTA also supports new families through programs like Welcome Wai Teas, providing opportunities to learn about Thai culture and the school environment. Additionally, the PTA collaborates with the Booster Club to support student activities in athletics, arts, and academics.
Established in 1951, the International School Bangkok (ISB) is Thailand’s first international school, located in the Nichada Thani community, approximately 20 kilometers north of downtown Bangkok. ISB offers a U.S.-based curriculum integrated with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, catering to students aged 3 to 18. The school emphasizes small class sizes, particularly in lower elementary grades, to provide personalized instruction. With approximately 1,800 students, ISB fosters a diverse and inclusive community. The campus boasts facilities supporting STEM education, performing and visual arts, and offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including community service projects. ISB provides a school bus service, ensuring convenient transportation for families across Bangkok.
