MYIS began in 1990 as a small preschool serving just four children, founded by Mrs. Khanum Thampi. Over time, it expanded into an independent early years and primary school under private ownership, maintaining a family-oriented leadership structure. Since its founding, it has grown steadily while remaining focused on its early childhood roots.
The school hosts a variety of community events and cultural celebrations throughout the academic year, inviting families to participate in festivals, seasonal celebrations, and Service as Action initiatives. Parents are actively involved through volunteer opportunities and community gatherings. The school’s commitment to community connection is embedded in its IB programming and schedule.
At MYIS, the Parent Working Group (PWG) serves as the school’s main parent-led body. The PWG is a parent-driven initiative designed to promote open communication and collaboration between families and the school. Parents have an active voice in shaping school initiatives, with regular opportunities to contribute ideas, raise concerns, and support events. The PWG is involved in a variety of activities, including fundraising, organizing parent workshops, producing the annual school yearbook, and participating in school-wide performances and cultural events.
Magic Years International School (MYIS) in Pakkret, Nonthaburi, welcomes children aged 1 to 16 and follows the IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) and is pursuing IB MYP candidacy beginning with Grade 10 from August 2024, expanding through Grade 12 by 2026. On a 1.5‑acre campus just outside the Nichada Thani expat community, the school features an outdoor farm with goats, chickens, fish and turtles, where students tend plants and animals daily. A gymnasium, sports field, and salt‑water pool, alongside a Design Technology / STEM lab, Visual Arts studio, music room, library, and playgrounds, support practical and active learning. Inquiry is core to learning: even the youngest children begin to learn through inquiry, guided by a curriculum enhanced by PYP philosophy. A signature program is the farm‑based outdoor learning initiative: daily student engagement in gardening and animal care that connects classroom concepts to real‑world ecology and responsibility. Class sizes are small, with a 1:5 teacher‑student ratio across divisions.
